About the Girl
My name is Mallery. I have, at various times and places, been known as Ascelyn, Kariss, Rommie, Mouse, and That Weird Kid. I am twenty-three years old. And I am a geek.
Maybe not the glasses-wearing, nasal spray-using type of geek that certain friends like to pretend I am. The glasses got ditched when I was twelve, and I won’t admit to any form of medication that I may once have taken. But I know too much about science to be appropriate for a non-geek, I started coding web pages when I was in middle school, and I like games like Shadowrun and Dragonrealms. I’ve learned Latin, have been payed to have my writing published, and was yearbook editor and photographer for my high school. I started teaching college mathematics classes when I was twenty years old, but that’s okay, because I graduated with my degree in biology at twenty as well. Oh, and I dress up like a 14th-century English girl on weekends.
So you think you know who I am? Think you could pick me off the streets? Good luck. I look like any good little married, working, tax-paying citizen now. I volunteer, garden, and try to find a church that won’t drive me mad. I’m expecting to add a kid to the crazy mix that is my life in October 2009. I also help with my husband Jason’s band, and like to jump off cliffs and drive through mud puddles in my spare time.
Forget trying to explain myself here. That’s not my intent, and I don’t think I can be summed up in a few paragraphs. Read it if you want, but do me a favor and drop off your assumptions at the door.
